Kick the Can Ice Cream
Kids and adults alike will enjoy this delicious project.  Perfect for a hot summer day, or maybe a cold rainy one when everyone needs a little lift.  Adult supervision needed because of the measuring and the rock salt and ice.  This project gets very cold.  If the kids decide to roll the can, instead of kick it, it's a good idea for them to have oven mitts or heavy mittens on to protect their hands from the cold.

1 lb coffee can
3/4 cup whole milk
1 cup cream
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 lb coffee can
crushed ice
3/4 cup rock salt

Combine milk, cream, sugar and vanilla. Place in 1 pound coffee can and place inside the 3 pound coffee can. Place ice and rock salt inside large can, surrounding the smaller can. Seal both cans tightly. Kick the can for 10 minutes. Stir ice cream mixture. Kick it again for 5 more minutes.
